The Rizal Memorial Coliseum is a landmark institution of Manila, and the only extant sporting venue in Southeast Asia rendered in the Streamlined Art Deco Style. A masterpiece of Architect Juan Arellano completed in 1935 for the Far Eastern Championship Games, the structure underwent a comprehensive modernization and rehabilitation program in 2019 to be the choice venue for the 30th Southeast Asian Games. Works on the Rizal Memorial include the documentation and conservation of its Art Deco details, period-appropriate renovation, and the installation of modern air conditioning, sports lighting, and monumental lighting utilities.
