Casa Floria is a pioneering example of hybrid conservation and adaptive reuse in the Philippines. In 2021, ARC LICO was commissioned as Consulting Architect for the relocation, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of this heritage house from its original site to a new location in San Juan City. The project presented a unique challenge: to preserve the architectural authenticity and cultural memory of the structure while adapting it for contemporary use.
ARC LICO conducted extensive documentation of the house’s original materials, spatial configuration, and stylistic features, followed by a carefully executed dismantling and reconstruction process. Original components—such as hardwood posts, capiz shell windows, and intricately carved callado panels—were catalogued, restored, and reassembled using both traditional carpentry and modern reinforcement methods. The resulting structure preserves the charm and character of the original dwelling while incorporating modern conveniences and structural upgrades.
